Feelings are running high about hybrid and remote working:
Business leaders have hit back in recent weeks – “Get their bums back into the office” Lord Alan Sugar tells the BBC.
While President Donald Trump goes one step further, signing executive orders to terminate all remote work arrangements; stating that any employees refusing to return to the office full-time will be fired.
The UK Government’s aim on the other hand, is to make flexible working a day one right.
Employees are also voicing their opinions. Strike action is now being used in the UK in an attempt to protect hybrid-working arrangements.
The challenge for employers continues. How can they balance the operational needs of the business against the demands of the workforce?
Whilst workers are arguing that they have better time management and are more productive at home, employers such as Lord Rose, former boss of M&S and Asda warned during a BBC Panorama interview that working from home is creating a generation who are “not doing proper work” and creating a decline in the UK’s economy as a result.
